“The one with that hill.” A proper set of trail runs in Jozi that winds though the lush Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens – voted the best place to get back to nature in Gauteng for 9 years in a row – and climbs the relentless ridges of the adjoining Muldersdrift Hobby Park. A magical 2km loop for the kids while the longer 6km loop and 12 and 20km circular route head further into the open rocky Highland grassland and more technical running sections are both a great challenge to tackle on a Saturday morning. Fiercely competed or enjoyed at a more leisurely pace, both pass by the cascading waterfall and cliffs home to a breeding pair of majestic Verreaux’s Eagles. Bring a picnic and come and enjoy the gardens with us. There will be food and drinks on sale and a jumping castle for the kids.
Starting times: 20km: 7am; 12km: 7:30am; 6km: 8am; 2km: 9am.
